2020-2021 Faith Formation Year

Parent Meeting is September 13, 2020 at 1 p.m. in the Church to discuss this year’s Faith Formation Program. If you missed it here it is.

Because we are in a time of uncertainty due to the COVID-19  pandemic, SKD is using a hybrid model of in-class and at-home learning this year which will provide a rather seamless transition to a virtual format if the need arises. Instead of in-class meeting teachers will use an online platform such as ZoomTM in place of in-class instruction.

For grades K to 5, you will be using The Children’s Bible Series.

For grades 6 to 8, you will be using My Catholic Faith

The Fall 2020 schedule is listed below.

This year students will be learning about their Catholic Faith using a hybrid model. It consists of one in-person class per month followed up by two at home/online lessons. This model was decided upon because of the uncertainty we are facing due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This plan provides flexibility for your family.

The grade your child is in this year determines which week of in person instruction he will attend. Grades 1, 2, 7, and 8 attend the first Sunday of the month in-person class. Grades 3, 4, 5 and 6 attend the second Sunday of the month in-person class. Class time is 9:40 to 10:50 a.m., placing it conveniently between the 8:30 a.m. Mass and 11:00 a.m. Mass. Remember that attending Mass together as a family is a perfect way of living the Catholic faith together.

Additionally, there are two at home lessons per month. The student has the week to complete these assignments. Parents help and support is needed, especially for the younger grades.

Please note that if Cumberland County goes into the Red Phase again because of an increase in positive COVID-19 tests, then in person instruction will cease and lessons will be conducted using Zoom or another platform of the instructor’s choice.
