SKD CONTINUES TO RESPOND WITH GREAT CARE

SKD CONTINUES TO RESPOND WITH GREAT CARE REGARDING THE HEALTH & SAFETY OF ALL OUR PARISHIONERS

Great care has been given and thoroughly thought through for months on how to safely reopen our church following the prescribed directives from the bishop’s office in conjunction with the recommendations from the PA State government and CDC. Today, the governor has again placed restrictions on certain businesses due to reports indicating a rise in COVID-19 cases. Please read the letter below as to how the Diocese of Harrisburg is responding to this new development. Please note that places of worship are exempt from the Governor’s directive.

Governor Wolf has responded to the uptick of COVID-19 cases in the Commonwealth with restrictions placed on dining facilities, bars, and workplaces. Church spaces remain exempt from the Governor’s directive limiting the gathering of persons indoors and outdoors.

Because of our vigilant approach to social distancing, wearing masks, and sanitization, there is no change in our current directives regarding the use of our churches and public worship at this time. Please continue to exercise great care in following the norms laid out in the directives for the Diocese of Harrisburg.

Pastors continue to have the discretion, particularly if there is a concern within their locality, to distribute Holy Communion after Mass and to further reduce seating should that be warranted.

Thank you for your attentiveness to the protocols in place. They have ensured safe environments for the continued public worship of our parish communities.

In Christ,
