TENEBRAE is an ancient Liturgical Prayer from the Liturgy of the Hours for Holy Week traditionally prayed in the early morning hours of Good Friday in the dark as awaiting the sunrise on Holy Saturday, the foretaste of Easter sunrise.
Pastorally, it is prayed in the evening of Wednesday prior to the Sacred Triduum.
It is a Liturgy that meditates on the Word of God and the mystery of light and darkness.
It is prayed in the ”shadows” of betrayal, denial, walking away , suffering, passion and death and awaits the promise of life and Resurrection.
It is a very moving liturgy full of the mystery of despair and hope, fear and trust, death and life, darkness and light.
It is very appropriate for these time!
