Theology on Tap – December 16, 2021

December 2021 Theology on Tap Harrisburg
The Four Last Things
Presenter: Jim Gontis

This presentation will focus on the ultimate realities: Death, Judgment, Heaven, and Hell.  Attendees will receive practical tips about what we must know about these crucial truths of the Faith and just as important, how to teach about “The Four Last Things”. Some frequently asked questions about the Four Last Things will also be addressed such as: What is Death?  What will the Particular and Final Judgment(s) be based upon?  Will we know everything in Heaven?  Will there be pain of sense in Hell?  What kind of joys will those in Heaven enjoy?  Also, even though it is not one of the Four Last Things, the presenter will speak a bit about Purgatory and some of the questions that come up regarding this reality, such as: Does the Bible teach about Purgatory?  Can the souls in Purgatory pray for themselves?  Can they pray for us?  Do our prayers help those in Purgatory?  These questions and more will be addressed!  Come and see.

Jim Gontis is married to Eva and is the father of eight children, five of whom are now young adults. He has worked for the Diocese for almost 21 years, the first 16 as the Director of Religious Education and since then as Director of Evangelization and Catechesis. Jim and his family are members of Holy Name of Jesus Parish.
