Annual Pet Blessing

Each Fall, on or near October 4th, we celebrate the Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi who is the patron saint of animals. Pastors around the planet remember all animals especially our family pets. Parishioners and their dogs, cats, and one beloved rabbit gathered near Mary’s shrine. Father Ken gave the blessing this year. Prayers were recited and holy water was sprinkled. Some of the furry friends are used to this annual rite while others were new to it. Some enjoyed meeting fellow furry friends, while others chose not to shy away, show disinterest or announce their displeasure. Saint Francis Pet Metals were given to each pet owner as a sacramental reminding us of God’s providence over all of us.
