BECOMING A KNIGHT HAS NEVER BEEN BETTER!

‘Joining online is the first step in a life-long commitment,’

says Marine Corps vet Jon Marsili served in Afghanistan. His brushes with death brought him to prayer and the rosary. Now, he strengthens his faith as a Knight of Columbus. Here’s what he says about joining.

Thanks to the efforts of Venerable Michael J. McGivney, assistant pastor of St. Mary’s Church in New Haven, and some of his parishioners, the Connecticut state legislature on March 29, 1882, officially chartered the Knights of Columbus as a fraternal benefit society. The Order is still true to its founding principles of charity, unity and fraternity.

Knights are Catholic men, 18 years of age and older, who are committed to making their community a better place while supporting their Church. Being a Knight is more than camaraderie; it is being involved with your community; it is supporting your local Catholic Church while enhancing your own faith; it is about protecting and enhancing your family life.

Coats for Kids October 2020

Brothers Dave Martin, Mike Zarcone, Paul Bowers, Bart Deluca along with Silence of Mary Representative, Debbie Straub

The Knights of Columbus St Katharine Drexel Council #13100 presented Silence of Mary in Lemoyne, PA with a donation of 26 coats from the Coats for Kids drive. The Knights of Columbus developed the Coats for Kids program, which allows councils across North America the opportunity to purchase new winter coats for children at a discount and to distribute them to children of need in their local communities. The Silence of Mary was founded by Sue and Vern Rudy in 1999, on that advice. Following the urgings o

f the Holy Spirit, the Silence of Mary is committed to serving Jesus in the chronically poor, whether they live within our family homes or in the inner cities of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania or Fort Wayne, Indiana. Debbie Straub was very pleased with the quality of the coats and commented that “…these coats are great for the local children in need…”.

Our Council’s History
Our Council 13100 was chartered in 2002 as a District 64 Council on the feast day of Saint Katharine Drexel, March 3, as Knights Council #13100. Father James R. O’Brien, the founding pastor of St. Katharine Drexel Parish in Mechanicsburg, welcomed our Council to make SKD our permanent home. The Council graciously accepted Father O’Brien’s welcome. Today, we are a growing Council of fifty plus members serving the needs of our Saint Katharine Drexel parish community in partnership with Father Kenneth G. Smith, while extending our charitable work throughout our community.
