Youth Ministry Volunteers

Youth Ministry Update

At the June brainstorming sessions, we had a helpful discussion with parents about their role in youth ministry. Youth ministry is never a one-person job! Just like Jesus did not do His ministry on His own, anyone in a position of ministry needs a team that can offer help, advice and perspective to each other!

We are looking for parents, adult parishioners and young adults who would like to volunteer in the background, or be active participants in youth ministry. The time commitment will vary based on what events you choose to be a part of, but there are many roles to fill!

  • Core Team: Attend fellowship (can choose MS or HS, or both) and play an active role in ministering to teens in attendance, small group discussion leaders, help chaperone large group events and/or retreats, help with planning events/fellowship when necessary. *Clearances required
  • Crowd Ministers: Greeters/hospitality for fellowship/events, back-up small group discussion leaders, relational ministry to teens, games set up/explanation. *Clearances required
  • Kickback Ministers: Behind the scenes – set up or clean up before/after fellowship or large events, organize food/cooking, invitational ministry (invite teens you see at other parish/school functions). *Clearances would NOT be required as there is no constant, direct contact with youth in the Youth Ministry setting.

Becoming a Youth Ministry volunteer is a wonderful way to be involved in the life and aspects of the young church, and you have the ability to choose how involved you will be. I hope you will prayerfully consider giving some of your time to these teens in Youth Ministry.

Obtaining youth protection clearances is free for volunteers, and incredibly easy to complete – it just takes a little bit of time. This link will give you a list of each item required in order to get your clearances through the diocese:

Please let me know if you have any questions, or would like to discuss your involvement as a youth ministry volunteer! It will be an honor to serve the youth of this community beside all of you!

In Christ,

Natalie
